Barangay Tanod Shot Dead in Calasiao; Suspects Linked to Illegal Drugs

A 44-year-old barangay tanod from Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao, was shot dead by two assailants allegedly involved in illegal drugs.

According to Calasiao Police Chief Plt. Col. Ferdinand Lopez, initial investigations revealed that the victim was resting in his hut when the suspects arrived and opened fire.

After the attack, the gunmen immediately fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities suspect that the motive behind the killing was the suspects’ belief that the victim had reported their involvement in illegal drug activities.

Following the incident, police coordinated with nearby stations to launch a simultaneous operation to track down the suspects.

With the help of witnesses, investigators identified one of the assailants, leading to the arrest of 32-year-old tattoo artist Jesus Rinijane, a resident of Barangay Caranglaan, Dagupan City.

The arrested suspect is now in the custody of Calasiao MPS, while authorities are preparing murder charges against him and his accomplices.
