Conditions have begun to improve in several affected areas, especially in densely populated communities where floodwaters have started to recede.

Hundreds of residents remain housed in evacuation centers as efforts to restore affected communities continue.

The latest fatality was reported as an 80-year-old man whose body was found within his flooded property, bringing the confirmed death toll to five.
