A 52-year-old woman, identified as alias Jenelyn, was fatally shot in Purok Arao, Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, on Monday night, January 13.
According to Police Captain Dax Santillan, station commander of Bacolod Police Station 7, authorities responded to reports of a shooting incident in the area.
However, both the victim and the suspect were no longer at the scene upon their arrival.
Investigations revealed that Jenelyn was conversing with a neighbor when the suspect, alias Johny, briefly arrived and then returned home.
Minutes later, Johny came back armed with an improvised firearm and shot Jenelyn in the back.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police report that the suspect blamed the victim for alleged interference in his relationship with his overseas working live-in partner, which reportedly led to their disputes.
Authorities continue to search for the suspect, who remains at large. Police are urging him to surrender and prepare to face criminal charges.
