MANILA — The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has confirmed that the commitment order for former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has been received by the warden of the Pasig City Jail, paving the way for her transfer to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong.

BJMP spokesperson Jail Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said preparations are underway for Guo’s required medical and laboratory examinations, a standard procedure before any detainee is moved to another detention facility.

Once medical clearance is issued, Guo is expected to be transferred within the week.

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 167 earlier denied a motion from Guo’s camp asking that she remain at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory instead of being moved to the CIW in Mandaluyong.

Guo was convicted of qualified human trafficking, a non-bailable offense that carries a severe penalty under Philippine law.
