It is within the rights of employees to resign or leave their current job for any reason, according to Atty. Joey Tamayo, a resource person from Duralex Sedlex program in Bombo Radyo Dagupan.
However, some positions may require the employee to complete their contract before leaving.
Atty. Tamayo emphasized that giving a one-month advance notice before resigning allows the employer time to find a replacement. Failing to do so could lead to significant losses for the employer, as it is often difficult to hire new employees immediately.
Providing advance notice ensures a smooth transition for the company and the departing employee, facilitating the search for someone to take over the position or responsibilities.
Although employees have the right to leave, Atty. Tamayo noted that they should still consider the employer’s investment and circumstances.
Regarding rendering days, Atty. Tamayo stressed the importance of fulfilling this obligation, as it is stipulated in the National Labor Code.
He also advised that employees adhere to any signed contract for a proper and orderly resignation process.
