Bureau of Immigration (BI) Spokesperson Dana Sandoval assured that an investigation will be conducted to hold accountable any personnel involved in the escape of Alice Guo’s group.
According to Sandoval, the BI aims to uncover the truth to ensure that any personnel involved will be brought to justice. However, she mentioned that, as of now, there is no information confirming the involvement of any immigration officers in aiding the group’s escape.
Sandoval emphasized that anyone responsible for this is tarnishing the reputation of the entire agency.
Earlier, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla suggested the possibility of BI personnel being involved in the escape of the group linked to a dismissed mayor from Bamban, a matter that requires thorough investigation.
Remulla also noted that BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco had not immediately informed him about the incident, which he deemed a major oversight on Tansingco’s part. Due to this, the two officials are reportedly not communicating.
Meanwhile, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Spokesperson Winston Casio stated that no direct link between the BI and the controversial escape of Alice Guo has been found.
