Manila — The dismembered body of a man concealed inside a drum was discovered Sunday night, February 15, in front of the Delpan Sports Complex along Mel Lopez Boulevard northbound in Barangay 275, Binondo.
According to an initial police report, the body parts were found around 7:30 p.m. and reported to authorities at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The remains, partially wrapped in a black trash bag, were spotted on the roadside.
Two men who discovered the body told investigators that a white utility van had stopped on top of the Mel Lopez Bridge. Two unidentified men reportedly stepped out of the vehicle and unloaded a blue drum sealed with clear plastic tape.
The suspects allegedly instructed the two witnesses to dispose of the drum and even gave them money in exchange.
After the van left and proceeded northbound along Mel Lopez Boulevard, the witnesses loaded the drum onto their pushcart and left it by the roadside in front of the sports complex.
While attempting to remove the contents of the drum, the witnesses said they noticed an open plastic bag containing what appeared to be human body parts. They immediately informed their companions, who then alerted authorities.
The recovered remains were brought to Funeraria Cruz for proper examination.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify the victim and determine those responsible for the crime.
