MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said no Filipino nationals have been reported injured or killed in the deadly shooting incident in Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia.

In a statement issued Sunday night, Dec. 14, the DFA said the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney is closely coordinating with Australian authorities to confirm whether any Filipinos were affected by the attack.

“As of this time, there are no confirmed Filipino casualties,” the DFA said.

Australian police earlier reported that at least 15 people were killed and around 40 others injured after two gunmen, identified as a father and his son, opened fire at a Jewish community event celebrating Hanukkah in Bondi.

Authorities said the father was shot dead during the police response, while the son remains in critical condition.

The DFA expressed condolences to the victims and their families and advised Filipinos in Sydney to remain alert, avoid the affected areas, and comply with instructions from local authorities.
