CWS party-list Representative Edwin Gardiola on Thursday publicly refuted accusations linking him to corruption in flood control and other government infrastructure projects.

In a statement, Gardiola said he was “disheartened” to hear his name dragged into supposed anomalies. “I categorically deny any involvement in the acts being alleged. These claims are untrue,” he said.

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure on Wednesday recommended the filing of criminal and administrative cases against Gardiola and several lawmakers identified as “contractors,” or elected officials allegedly owning construction companies awarded with government projects.

Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste earlier accused Gardiola of “pre-ordering” infrastructure and farm-to-market road projects amounting to more than ₱22 billion.

He claimed that multiple companies supposedly tied to Gardiola had been pre-assigned projects even before the bidding process began.

Gardiola, however, said he is prepared to confront the witness who implicated him, “but in the proper forum.”

“I owe it to my constituents, my family, and the Filipino people to clear my name in the right way,” he added.
