PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday made light of the ongoing Cabinet reshuffle, joking that his wife, First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta Marcos, would be included in the shakeup.

Speaking at the 2025 Bagong Bayani Awards, Marcos said the First Lady has frequently traveled to Europe to assist with programs of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

“She has become our ambassador now for migrant workers, that’s your new designation. We’re having a Cabinet shakeup, right? So you’re part of it…” Marcos quipped during his speech.

The remark comes amid a series of changes in the administration’s top posts. Former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and former Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman were recently removed from their positions.

Finance Secretary Ralph Recto has taken over as Executive Secretary, while Budget Undersecretary Rolando Toledo replaced Pangandaman.

Bersamin has denied resigning from his post, contradicting Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, who earlier said he stepped down “out of delicadeza.”
