Imee Marcos challenges First Family to take hair-follicle drug test

SENATOR Imee Marcos on Tuesday urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the First Family to undergo a hair-follicle drug test, saying it would put to rest accusations that they are using illegal drugs.

The challenge came a day after her nephew, House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, dismissed her allegations and accused her of betraying the family. Sandro earlier said her claims were “not the conduct of a true sibling.”

In a Facebook post, the senator responded by reviving rumors about her own identity.

“He wants to stir talk that I am not a true Marcos. There is only one solution: I will take a DNA test, and they will take a hair-follicle test,” she wrote.

Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez downplayed the demand, calling it a recycled issue.

“This is an old tune. There are far more important matters the President, the government, Congress, the Senate, and the executive branch should focus on,” Gomez said in an interview with one media source.

During the Iglesia Ni Cristo rally at Quirino Grandstand on Monday night, Senator Marcos accused the President, First Lady Liza Marcos, and some of the President’s close allies of drug use.

Malacañang rejected the allegations, labeling them a “desperate move.”

“At a rally supposedly calling for accountability and transparency, why is Senator Imee attacking her own brother?” Palace Press Officer Daphne Oseña-Paez said.
