HOUSE Majority Leader Sandro Marcos on Tuesday pushed back against drug-use allegations made by his aunt, Senator Imee Marcos, against his parents, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Marcos, calling the claims “false” and “dangerously irresponsible.”

Senator Marcos issued the accusation on Monday during the second day of the Iglesia ni Cristo rally at Quirino Grandstand, where she spoke about her brother’s supposed decades-long struggle with substance abuse and even implicated the First Lady, claiming the situation “worsened because the couple reportedly shared the habit.”

In a written statement, Rep. Marcos condemned his aunt’s remarks, saying they were part of “a web of lies aimed at destabilizing the government to advance her own political ambitions.”

He added that her latest public attack amounted to a personal betrayal.

“It is painful to see her do this. For her to betray her own family brings a lot of pain… Hindi ito asal ng isang tunay na kapatid,” he said.

The Palace also responded on Monday, with Press Officer Daphne Oseña-Paez dismissing the allegations as a “desperate move” meant to cast doubt on the President’s integrity without any factual basis.

Oseña-Paez insisted that President Marcos has a verifiable record proving he is drug-free and described the timing of the senator’s statements as a diversionary tactic.
