At least 120 people, most of them police officers, were injured during anti-government protests in Mexico.
The demonstrations were organized by Gen Z youth groups and supported by various citizens who marched in Mexico City to demand an end to drug-related violence and to denounce the security policies of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Despite Sheinbaum maintaining an approval rating above 70 percent, public concern has grown following a series of high-profile killings, including the recent assassination of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo, who had called for tougher action against cartels.
The protests, which also spread to other cities, highlighted growing frustration over escalating violence and security challenges across the country.
President Sheinbaum claimed that the demonstrations were allegedly funded by right-wing politicians opposed to her administration.
