Nearly 5,000 families continue to stay in 27 evacuation centers in Ilagan City as floods brought by Typhoon Uwan have yet to fully subside.

According to Paul Bacungan, Information Officer of the Ilagan City LGU, while floodwaters are receding, residents cannot yet return to their homes due to thick mud and debris that need clearing.

Clearing operations are ongoing in affected areas, with the LGU coordinating with the City of Ilagan Medical Center and the City Health Office to safeguard the health of evacuees.

The city government has suspended classes from preschool to college to allow clearing and restoration efforts in schools and communities damaged by the typhoon.

Many houses were inundated with mud, requiring thorough cleaning before residents can safely return.

The Isabela Electric Cooperative (ISELCO II) continues work on restoring damaged power lines, while the Ilagan Water District is repairing broken pipelines to restore water supply.

Bacungan apologized to residents still without electricity and water but assured that the local government is working continuously to normalize conditions and help Ilagueños recover from Typhoon Uwan’s devastation.
