Hundreds of families in Cauayan City were forced to evacuate as relentless rains and strong winds from Super Typhoon Uwan continued to lash Luzon.

Residents set up tents inside the coliseum as temporary shelters, while others laid mats on the floor. Several barangays began distributing free food to evacuees, and some residents brought their pets such as cats and dogs to ensure their safety during the storm.

By 5:00 PM, the number of evacuees had surged to 308 families or 1,073 individuals. At the same time, authorities reported that the Alicaocao Overflow Bridge was impassable after river water levels rose, prompting its temporary closure to motorists.

The Cauayan City government continues to monitor the situation, urging the public to remain alert, avoid flooded areas, and heed official advisories.

By 9:00 PM, the city felt the full force of Super Typhoon Uwan as strong winds toppled signage and tarpaulins, damaged trash bins and streetlights, and caused a brief power interruption in the poblacion area before electricity was restored.
