More than 1,000 residents in Cagayan Valley have been evacuated as part of preemptive measures ahead of the expected landfall of Super Typhoon Uwan.

According to the Cagayan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the evacuation covered communities in flood-prone and landslide-risk areas across Tuguegarao City, Aparri, and nearby municipalities.

Local government units activated emergency shelters and coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to provide food packs, hygiene kits, and medical assistance to evacuees.

Authorities emphasized that the move aims to achieve zero casualty by relocating vulnerable families before the storm’s peak impact.

Super Typhoon Uwan, with maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching 230 kilometers per hour, is expected to bring torrential rains, destructive winds, and storm surges exceeding three meters in coastal areas.

PAGASA has raised Signal No. 4 in parts of Cagayan Valley, including Isabela and Quirino, while Signal No. 3 and 2 are in effect in other provinces of Northern Luzon.
