The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 2 has issued a public advisory urging residents to avoid non-essential travel due to the intensifying threat of Typhoon Uwan.

According to LTFRB Regional Director Edward Cabase, the advisory aims to minimize road accidents and ensure commuter safety as the storm approaches Northern Luzon.

Cabase emphasized that public transport operators should exercise caution and suspend trips in areas under high storm signals, especially those prone to flooding and landslides.

He also reminded drivers and operators to coordinate with local disaster risk reduction offices and monitor PAGASA bulletins for real-time updates.

The agency is working closely with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and local government units to ensure that emergency protocols are in place for stranded passengers.

Typhoon Uwan, which continues to intensify, is expected to make landfall over Aurora late Sunday or early Monday, bringing torrential rains and destructive winds to Region 2 and surrounding provinces.

PAGASA has raised Signal No. 3 in parts of Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya, with Signal No. 2 affecting other areas in Cagayan Valley.

LTFRB Region 2 also advised commuters to prepare emergency kits and avoid traveling during peak storm hours unless absolutely necessary.

Transport terminals have been instructed to activate contingency plans, including temporary shelter arrangements and passenger advisories.

Cabase reiterated that safety remains the top priority and that cooperation from the public is essential to prevent casualties and ensure smooth disaster response.
