PCG member shot dead in Manila’s Sampaloc district

A 38-year-old member of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) was shot dead early Wednesday morning in Barangay 465, Sampaloc, Manila.

According to police, the victim sustained gunshot wounds to the head and several parts of the body.

Residents said the victim was seen engaging in a fistfight with the suspect shortly before the shooting occurred. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage from a nearby establishment where the altercation reportedly began.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

By around 7 a.m., the victim’s colleagues from the PCG arrived at the scene and used one of their vehicles to transport the remains to a funeral home. They also declined to make any public comment.
