Typhoon Enteng Death Toll Climbs to 13 – OCD

The death toll from Typhoon Enteng has climbed to 13, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

Edgar Posadas, an OCD spokesperson, said that the reported casualties are still being verified. Eight of the fatalities were recorded in Rizal province, particularly in Antipolo City, following incidents of landslides and floods. Three deaths were reported in Bicol, while two were recorded in Cebu province due to a collapsed wall.

Meanwhile, the OCD has also recorded 10 injured individuals in Cebu due to the typhoon’s impact.

Based on data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 147,024 individuals or 37,867 families from over 300 barangays in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and the National Capital Region have been affected.

The agency has also recorded 157 flooded areas, 4 landslides, and 3 collapsed structures due to the heavy rainfall.

A total of 54 roads and 2 bridges remain impassable.

Eleven cities and towns in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Bicol have experienced power outages.

In an advisory issued on Tuesday, Meralco has sought the public’s understanding as approximately 2,000 of their customers remain submerged in floodwaters. The company assured that they will restore power to all affected customers as soon as possible.

Typhoon Enteng is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday morning.
