At least seven people have perished and four others remain missing in Antipolo City as a result of landslides and floods triggered by Typhoon Enteng, according to data released by the Antipolo City government on Monday night, September 2.

Three of the fatalities were buried in a landslide, including a pregnant woman from Barangay San Jose. Two young brothers were found embracing each other, having been buried under thick mud and fallen trees.

Meanwhile, the body of a one-year-old boy was recovered in a separate landslide incident in Barangay San Luis, based on information from the Antipolo Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) on Monday night.

According to officials, the parents of the deceased child and his 8-year-old sibling are missing, while their grandfather survived.

The remaining three fatalities were caused by flooding.

The local government of Antipolo described the impact of Typhoon Enteng on the city as more severe compared to Typhoon Carina, which affected parts of Luzon in April.

Relly Bernardo, head of the Antipolo DRRMO, said that the eastern part of Antipolo, as well as other areas in Rizal, experienced intense rainfall.

As a result, several barangays that were unaffected by Typhoon Carina suffered from overflowing creeks, leading to widespread flooding.

Some residents in Antipolo have lost their livelihoods and parts of their homes due to the floods.

As of yesterday, over 300 families, or more than 1,000 individuals, have been evacuated to evacuation centers throughout Antipolo City.
