U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of his proposed Gaza peace plan, a move he described as “historic and unprecedented” in efforts to end the two-year conflict.

According to Trump, the initial stage includes the release of all hostages held by Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli forces to an agreed-upon line inside Gaza.

The announcement followed high-level talks in Egypt, where Trump’s 20-point peace framework reportedly secured the approval of both sides.

“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan,” Trump said in a statement posted on his Truth Social account. “This means that ALL of the hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their troops to an agreed-upon line as the first steps toward a strong, durable, and everlasting peace.”

Trump also extended his gratitude to mediating countries, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, for facilitating the talks, adding, “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”

Egyptian state-linked media later confirmed that Israel and Hamas had reached a deal involving a hostage-prisoner exchange and the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza as part of the agreement.
