Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has identified several senators as potential replacements for the Blue Ribbon Committee chair following the resignation of Senator Panfilo Lacson.

Sotto named Senators Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, Raffy Tulfo, Pia Cayetano, Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, and Risa Hontiveros as among those being considered for the position.

He added that whoever Lacson recommends will likely have a strong chance of being appointed as the next Blue Ribbon Committee chair.

Sotto called for a caucus at noon to discuss Lacson’s resignation with the majority bloc.

Lacson stepped down from the chairmanship yesterday amid the committee’s ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in flood control projects.

In his letter to Sotto, Lacson explained that his decision was prompted by dissatisfaction among fellow senators regarding the direction of the probe into the controversial infrastructure projects.
