Philippine National Police (PNP) Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. personally visited Barangay Laois, Labrador, Pangasinan on Saturday to inspect 895 kilos of suspected shabu seized during the second day of a major anti-drug operation in the province.

Nartatez assured that the ongoing investigation will lead to the filing of charges and further arrests linked to the massive drug haul.

The operation began on October 2 in Barangay Polong, Bugallon, where authorities intercepted a van carrying 125 packs of suspected shabu, resulting in the arrest of a Chinese national and his Filipino driver.

On October 3, operatives from the PNP and PDEA discovered a larger stash of contraband inside a private compound in Barangay Laois, with the drugs packed in plastic tea bags.

In total, 1,020 kilos of suspected shabu were confiscated over two days, with an estimated street value of P6.8 billion.

In his statement, Nartatez praised the swift and organized efforts of the PDEA and local police units, citing the success as proof of effective intelligence coordination between agencies.

He also ordered the formation of a joint investigation team to trace the origin of the drugs, identify possible international links, and determine why Pangasinan is being used as a transit point.

The investigation continues to uncover the full scope of the operation and identify all individuals involved in the large-scale drug shipment.
