Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla announced that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating government officials from 2016 to the present over alleged anomalies in flood control infrastructure projects.

Remulla revealed that around 200 individuals are involved in the controversial projects, including district engineers and contractors who were awarded government contracts.

Among those being probed are lawmakers who also act as contractors, whom Remulla referred to as “cong-tractors.”

He emphasized that such practices are not new in the House of Representatives, admitting that some congressional representatives are also engaged in contracting activities.

Remulla stressed that this issue will not be overlooked and that these individuals are now part of the DOJ’s ongoing investigation.

Of the 200 individuals allegedly involved, 67 are identified as “cong-tractors.”
