THE spat between Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon and Senator Jinggoy Estrada is now over, following the deletion of their Facebook posts aimed at each other.
Ridon confirmed in an interview with Headstart on Friday, Sept. 12, that he and Estrada have decided to “move on” from their online word war.
“I think as of last night (Thursday), Senator Jinggoy has already taken down his post, and I have taken down my post as well because through intermediaries, we just decided to just finish the problem and move on to more important things to serve the nation,” said Ridon, who chairs the House Infrastructure Committee.
Estrada’s earlier Facebook post featured the yearbook photos of Ridon and Brice Ericson Hernandez, a witness at the infra panel’s inquiry on alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
Ridon, in response, criticized Estrada’s move, citing the exposure of his personal details.
At the time, Ridon even received confirmation from National Privacy Commission (NPC) Deputy Commissioner John Henry Naga that he could pursue charges against Estrada for a possible violation of the Privacy Act.
But the feud appears to have been resolved. “I thank him because, of course, he already took down the post, and correspondingly, I also removed my posts about this matter,” Ridon said. “I think it’s a big deal that Senator Jinggoy took it down, and we are grateful for that.”
The incident unfolded amid the ongoing infrastructure probe, where Hernandez recently implicated Senators Estrada and Joel Villanueva in alleged anomalies tied to flood control projects.
