THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has elevated its alert level to “blue alert” on Friday in anticipation of the possible impact of Tropical Depression Isang.

In its advisory, the NDRRMC said the alert status was raised from white to blue effective 12 noon, August 22, under Memorandum No. 214, series of 2025.

Under the NDRRMC system, a white alert refers to “normal condition,” where incidents and hazards are being monitored and assessed.

A blue alert, meanwhile, signals “preparation for a slow-onset hazard or possible escalation,” requiring selected duty personnel to be on standby.

The council noted that primary staff from the Office of Civil Defense, supported by Detailed Duty Officers, will be manning the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center to ensure prompt coordination as the weather disturbance develops.
