Army Chief: It’s always an honor to look after the welfare of troops

Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete underscored the importance of troop welfare and capability enhancement during his visit to the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division and other major units at Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija on August 6, 2025.

The visit coincided with the 37th Founding Anniversary of the Kaugnay Division, celebrated under the theme “7ID@37: Pamilyang Matatag at Serbisyong may Malasakit – Sandigan ng Bagong Pilipinas.”

In his keynote address, Lt. Gen. Nafarrete praised the division’s leadership for fostering unity and camaraderie, calling the 7ID a pillar of a “Makabagong Pilipinas” in pursuit of peace and development.

“It’s always an honor to look after the welfare of our greatest assets—our troops,” the Army Chief declared.

Department of Agrarian Reform Usec. Atty. Kazel C. Celeste, representing Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III, also commended the division’s role in nation-building, saying, “You have become the image of dignity and love for country.”

Following the anniversary celebration, Lt. Gen. Nafarrete visited other Philippine Army Major Units (PAMUs) stationed at Fort Magsaysay, including the 1st Brigade Combat Team, Light Reaction Regiment, Combat Engineer Regiment, and Special Operations Command.

He also engaged with personnel from the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), Artillery Regiment, Aviation Regiment, and Installation Management Command.

This marked his first official visit to these units since assuming the role of the 67th Commanding General of the Philippine Army.

During his “Talk to Troops,” Nafarrete emphasized the continued development of skills and the importance of morale among soldiers and civilian personnel.
