A father and his son were declared dead on arrival after their motorcycle collided with a truck in Barangay Mohon, Tanauan, Leyte.
The fatal accident occurred along a curved section of the road at around 2:55 p.m. as their motorcycle attempted to cross into the opposite lane while a truck was approaching from Palo, Leyte.
CCTV footage captured the motorcycle swerving into the truck’s path, resulting in the victims being dragged underneath the vehicle.
The motorcycle was driven by alias Ron, 47, a resident of Brgy. Cabalagnan, with his wife and child as passengers. The truck was driven by alias Leo, 32, of Brgy. Catmon, Tanauan.
Emergency responders rushed the victims to the nearest hospital, but both the father and child were declared dead upon arrival. The mother is currently recovering.
Witnesses claimed the truck driver attempted to avoid the collision, but the motorcycle stopped in the middle of the lane, making impact inevitable despite being on a broken lane.
Authorities are conducting a full investigation to determine liability in the tragic incident.
