THE National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has ordered the 90-day preventive suspension of 12 police officers linked to the controversial case of missing sabungeros (cockfighters).

According to NAPOLCOM, the suspension was issued through two en banc resolutions and took effect immediately. The order has already been forwarded to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicholas Torre.

The move came after a complaint filed by Julie Dondon Patidongan, who accused the officers of abducting and killing the missing cockfighting enthusiasts.

NAPOLCOM emphasized that the suspension does not equate to a finding of guilt.

It aims to prevent the officers from influencing the investigation and to preserve the integrity of the ongoing probe.
