The number of cities and municipalities placed under a state of calamity has risen to 84, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Of these, 42 are located in Central Luzon, 27 in CALABARZON, six in the Ilocos Region, five in the National Capital Region (NCR), three in Western Visayas, and one in MIMAROPA.

The declaration grants local governments access to their calamity funds to fast-track relief and recovery efforts for residents affected by intense rains and southwest monsoon-triggered floods.

The surge in declarations follows Severe Tropical Storm Emong and persistent monsoon conditions that caused widespread disruption across the country.

Authorities continue to prioritize evacuation, relief distribution, and infrastructure restoration in the hardest-hit areas.
