Magnitude 6.3 Earthquake Jolts Parts of Mindanao

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake shook several areas in Mindanao at 9:58 a.m. on June 24, 2025, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

PHIVOLCS reported that the earthquake struck at a depth of 34 kilometers, with its epicenter located 341 kilometers northeast of Baganga, Davao Oriental. Reported intensities included Intensity III in Bislig City (Surigao del Sur), Tarragona, and Boston (Davao Oriental).

Intensity II was experienced in Lingig (Surigao del Sur), Baganga, San Isidro, Mati City, Manay, Caraga (Davao Oriental), Glan (Sarangani), Tagum City (Davao del Norte), Davao City, Santa Cruz (Davao del Sur), and Tulunan (Cotabato).

Intensity I tremors were recorded in Barobo and Tagbina (Surigao del Sur), Governor Generoso and Cateel (Davao Oriental), Digos City (Davao del Sur), and M’lang (Cotabato).

Instrumental readings also registered Intensity II in Nabunturan (Davao de Oro) and Intensity I in several other towns, including Davao City, Don Marcelino (Davao Occidental), Gingoog City (Misamis Oriental), and multiple locations in Sarangani, South Cotabato, and Cotabato provinces.

Authorities reported no damage or casualties but are closely monitoring for possible aftershocks following the Mindanao earthquake. PHIVOLCS continues to urge the public to stay alert and follow proper earthquake safety procedures.
