Ukrainian authorities have thwarted an assassination attempt on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy while he was at Rzeszow Airport in Poland.
According to Vasyl Malyuk, head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the suspect is a former Polish soldier who was recruited several years ago.
The suspect reportedly planned to use FPV drones and sniper weapons to execute the attack.
President Zelenskyy commended the SBU and Poland’s Internal Security Agency for the successful arrest of the suspect.
This is not the first time an attempt has been made on Zelenskyy’s life, as last year, there were reports of Polish-based soldiers also plotting to kill him.
Most of those arrested in previous plots were found to be affiliated with or working for Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
President Zelenskyy is currently in the United Kingdom for a meeting with King Charles III.
