Two fishermen were rescued at dawn on June 22 near the coastal waters of Maribojoc and Loon, Bohol after their small motorized fishing boat capsized.
The rescue was conducted around 1:00 a.m. by the Coast Guard Station Western Bohol under the leadership of PCG LTG Romulo D. Balonga Jr., with assistance from the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Loon led by ENS Remuel A. Montalban and crew members aboard BRP Malamawi (FPB-2403) under the command of Capt. Rafael A. General Jr.
The search and rescue operation was launched in response to reports of a capsized fishing boat in the area.
The rescued fishermen were identified as Julius Palomares and Jestoni Palomares, both of whom were operating two motorized bancas.
Upon rescue, they received immediate medical attention and care from TARSIER Ambulance personnel to ensure their safety and well-being.
The Philippine Coast Guard praised the swift response and professionalism of its Western Bohol team and BRP MALAMAWI’s crew for successfully executing the mission.
At the time of the incident, BRP Malamawi was deployed for a maritime security mission in support of the “REV RIDE 2025” event in Bohol.
This operation further demonstrated the Philippine Coast Guard’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring maritime safety.
