The National Authority for Child Care-Regional Alternative Child Care Office 1 (NACC-RACCO 1) is advocating for the legal adoption process to provide safe and nurturing homes for children abandoned, neglected, or abused by their biological parents.

According to their report, there are currently 78 licensed foster parents in the region, with 10 in Ilocos Norte, 18 in Ilocos Sur, 22 in La Union, and 28 in Pangasinan caring for 85 children.

Social Welfare Officer IV and RACCO 1 Officer-in-Charge Hiyasmin Joy O. Nieva-Rabelas emphasized that following the legal process ensures children’s protection and prevents future complications.

The agency also used the media forum to provide guidance on adoption laws and procedures.

Rabelas described adoption as a selfless act that offers new hope and a loving family to children in need.

She stressed that legal adoption safeguards the rights, privileges, and family status of adoptees, ensuring a promising future for them.

RACCO 1 encouraged the public to apply as licensed foster parents to help more children find supportive families.

Interested individuals may contact their office or visit their social media pages for further information.

As part of the third annual celebration of Adoption and Alternative Child Care Week, RACCO 1 launched programs to raise public awareness and promote child welfare.
