The complaint stemmed from Lorraine’s alleged online gossip about an individual, though officials have not disclosed further details about the incident.

The woman was placed under police custody and is now facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Authorities set bail at PHP 10,000 for her release.

Brigadier General Bernard Yang, acting director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended law enforcement officers for the successful arrest of the suspect.

He also reminded the public that freedom of expression does not grant the right to harm or humiliate others online.
