A woman was apprehended in Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija for carrying ₱1.65 million in cash during a Comelec checkpoint inspection, a clear violation of the election money ban.

The Police Regional Office III (PRO3) reported the arrest on Sunday, following the incident on Saturday in Barangay Poblacion West, where authorities spotted a partially open eco-bag filled with ₱1,000 bills.

Upon inspection, the woman admitted that the bag contained ₱1.65 million in cash, which exceeded the allowable limit under election regulations.

She is facing charges for violating Section 28 of Comelec Resolution No. 11104, which prohibits transporting more than ₱500,000 within two days before the election and on election day without proper authorization.

PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo emphasized the importance of enforcing directives to ensure a clean, fair, and safe 2025 elections.

This incident comes amid intensified efforts to curb electoral violations, with the Comelec’s Kontra Bigay Committee already receiving over 400 reports of vote-buying, vote-selling, and misuse of public funds tied to the Midterm Election 2025.
