The House of Representatives has expressed support for Senator Francis Tolentino’s plan to file treason and espionage charges against Infinitus Marketing Solutions Inc., a company allegedly used by China to spread disinformation targeting the Philippines.

Cagayan de Oro Representative Rufus Rodriguez backed the initiative, saying Infinitus should be held accountable for actions that damage the country and serve China’s propaganda agenda.

During a recent Senate hearing, Tolentino, who chairs the Senate Special Committee on Maritime Zones, revealed that his committee report will include a recommendation to charge the company’s officials and directors.

Rodriguez, a lawyer, argued that Infinitus clearly violated provisions of the Revised Penal Code and the National Security Act.

Rodriguez had earlier urged the Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate and prosecute the company for its alleged anti-national activities.

Senate hearings previously exposed that Infinitus operated as a troll farm for China, allegedly deploying social media operatives to spread fake news and disinformation against the Philippines.

These operations reportedly focused on undermining public opinion regarding the West Philippine Sea, a hotspot in the country’s maritime dispute with China.
