Philippine Army Deploys Over 16,000 Troops to Secure 2025 Midterm Elections

The Philippine Army 2025 midterm elections deployment is now in full swing, with 16,489 personnel positioned across 661 AFP-PNP-Comelec checkpoints and 63,663 polling precincts nationwide as of May 4, 2025.

A total of 6,712 Army officers, enlisted personnel, CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) members, and reservists are assigned to election checkpoints to support the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

An additional 9,777 Army personnel are deployed to protect polling centers across the country, with 12,377 more troops on standby alert for possible augmentation and rapid response.

The 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion ofthe Armor Division sends off a company for election deployment on May 4, 2025 at Camp Juan Allere, Brgy. Insasagan, Salvador, Lanao Del Norte.⁩

This extensive deployment is part of an inter-agency effort by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Comelec, and PNP to deter violence, intimidation, and electoral sabotage during the upcoming May 12 elections.

Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized that all deployed personnel underwent intensive briefings and orientation based on the Philippine Army Guidelines (PAG) and the Omnibus Election Code.

“Our troops have undergone rigorous orientation on their roles during this critical democratic exercise,” said Lt. Gen. Galido. “The Philippine Army is steadfastly committed to ensuring free, honest, and orderly elections.”

He further highlighted the Army’s role in securing “red areas” identified by Comelec as election hotspots, underscoring the Army’s commitment to protect democratic institutions through strategic coordination with other government agencies.
