Family Tricycle Crash Kills One, Injures Four After Speeding Car Collision

Family tricycle crash in Koronadal resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to four others after a speeding sedan plowed into their vehicle early morning of May 2 along Posadas Street, Barangay Zone 3, Koronadal City.

Police Staff Master Sergeant Leo Dimaculangan, traffic investigator of Koronadal PNP, confirmed the incident in an interview with Bombo Radyo Koronadal.

The fatality was identified as Juliet Jaco, 39, while her husband, Benjie Jaco, 48, who was driving the tricycle, sustained injuries along with his sister Judith Ortiz and two minors aged 12 and 9.

The family, all residents of Barangay 6, Banga, South Cotabato, was on their way home after attending a wake in Barangay Concepcion, Koronadal, when the collision occurred.

According to the police investigation, a speeding sedan suddenly hit their tricycle while they were on the road.

All victims were rushed to the hospital, but Juliet Jaco was declared dead on arrival.

The other passengers, including the sedan driver, suffered multiple injuries and fractures.

Dimaculangan stated that preliminary reports indicate the sedan driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The victim’s family confirmed that the sedan driver has committed to taking responsibility for the incident.

Both vehicles involved are currently in the custody of the Koronadal PNP Traffic Division for further investigation.

Authorities continue to urge motorists to obey traffic laws, avoid drunk driving, and exercise caution on the roads.
