Over 15,000 Army Troops Cast Votes in Local Absentee Voting Ahead of May Polls

Army Troops Local Absentee Voting commenced on April 28, 2025, as 15,842 Philippine Army personnel began casting their votes across Fort Bonifacio and other major camps nationwide.

The Army leadership encouraged soldiers to exercise their right to vote while reaffirming its strict adherence to non-partisanship during the election period.

The Local Absentee Voting (LAV) will run from April 28 to 30 and is sanctioned by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as part of ensuring uniformed and essential personnel can participate in the democratic process despite deployment.

Comelec has approved a total of 57,689 absentee voters, including 29,030 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), 23,448 from the Philippine National Police (PNP), 4,206 government employees, and 1,005 media practitioners.

Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido stated that the Army’s primary role is to prepare its units to assist both the PNP and Comelec in safeguarding the elections, underscoring that the entire force is fully committed to the success of this democratic exercise.

The Army also assured the public of its professionalism and continued focus on national security during the election period, reinforcing its role in preserving peace and stability in partnership with other government agencies.
