House Minority Leader Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan has challenged Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa to come forward with the truth about his role in the deaths of over 27,000 Filipinos during the implementation of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.

Libanan, known as an advocate for justice rooted in moral and ethical principles, emphasized the importance of honesty and accountability in the face of serious allegations of extrajudicial killings.

Libanan, a former seminarian from the Seminario de Hesus Nazareno, a lawyer, and a former chairperson of the House Committee on Justice, stressed the significance of integrity not only for public servants but for all individuals who aspire to serve with honor.

The 4Ps party-list representative also expressed concern over the grave accusations against Dela Rosa and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Libanan commended those who bravely revealed the truth, such as PNP Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido, despite the threats to their safety.

Libanan further stated that it is the moral obligation of those in power, especially public servants, to be role models, particularly in admitting mistakes and practicing humility.

Libanan questioned how Dela Rosa deals with his conscience regarding his actions and the potential long-term effects on him and society.

He urged Dela Rosa to understand that it is not too late to seek forgiveness and take the right steps by admitting his role in the extrajudicial killings.
