US Deploys NMESIS at Balikatan Exercises 2025 as the United States Marine Corps demonstrates its cutting-edge missile system in northern Philippines.

The Navy-Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS), a land-based missile platform, is designed to counter enemy maritime forces, strengthen maritime domain awareness, and enhance the joint defense capabilities of the Philippines and the United States.

This marks the first-ever deployment and operational use of the NMESIS during the Balikatan Exercises.

Previously, United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth conveyed to Philippine Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. the intent to reestablish “deterrence” across the Indo-Pacific Region to ensure the Philippines remains free from external threats.

The Balikatan Exercises, which involve nearly 17,000 troops from the Philippines, the US, and allied nations, will continue until May 9.
