1 Dead, 6 Injured Including 5 Minors in Motorcycle and Kolong-Kolong Collision

A barangay tanod was killed while six others, including five minors, were injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a kolong-kolong in Barangay Suerte, Quirino, Isabela.

The kolong-kolong was driven by Romnick, a 36-year-old LGU employee, who had five minors on board, while the motorcycle was driven by Dominador Nagum, a barangay tanod from Sta. Lucia.

According to Police Captain Joven Montalvo, officer-in-charge of Quirino Police Station, the kolong-kolong was traveling from the town of Mallig to Burgos, while the motorcycle was headed in the opposite direction.

The accident occurred when the motorcycle attempted to overtake another vehicle on a curved section of the road and crashed into the oncoming kolong-kolong.

Due to the impact of the collision, all involved parties sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital, where the motorcycle driver was declared dead on arrival.

One of the minors remains under medical care as of this writing.

Authorities said they continue to implement road safety interventions, including the installation of traffic signages and reminders to motorists to prevent similar incidents.
