P40.8M Worth of Suspected Shabu Seized in Twin Drug Operations Across Negros

Authorities seized a combined estimated value of ₱40.8 million worth of suspected shabu in two major anti-drug operations in Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental this week.

In Sibulan, Negros Oriental, a high-value individual (HVI) listed in the drug watchlist was arrested during an anti-illegal drug operation conducted on April 9, 2025, in Purok 6, Barangay Maslog.

The suspect, known by the alias “Eljin,” was captured through the joint efforts of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and Sibulan Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 7.

Authorities confiscated an estimated 4,000 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of ₱27.2 million, along with a backpack, cellphone, and ₱100,000 in marked buy-bust money.

The successful operation was led by PCPT Jebert B. Baroy, head of the PDEU, under the supervision of PLTCOL Florendo L. Fajardo, chief of the PIU.

NOPPO Provincial Director PCOL Ronan R. Claravall commended the operatives for their unwavering dedication and effective execution, which dealt a major blow to the local drug trade.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Barangay Bantayanon, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, another high-value drug bust was carried out on April 7, 2025.

The buy-bust operation was conducted by PDEA RO 6’s Special Enforcement Team, in collaboration with personnel from the Negros Occidental Provincial Office and Calatrava Municipal Police Station.

Authorities apprehended a 23-year-old suspect known by the alias “Khent,” a resident of Barangay Suba, Calatrava, and seized two vacuum-sealed plastic packs containing an estimated two kilos of suspected shabu valued at ₱13.6 million.

Also recovered was ₱2,000,100 in buy-bust money wrapped in cling film.

The suspect will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article 2 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
