Relief operations now face additional challenges as weather officials warn of potential rainfall from Sunday until April 11, which could threaten severely affected areas such as Mandalay, Sagaing, and the capital Naypyidaw.

The embassy also reported that 53 airlift missions have delivered aid to Myanmar, while more than 1,900 rescue workers from 15 countries, including the Philippines, China, India, and Russia, have arrived to assist in relief efforts.

In neighboring Thailand, which also felt the powerful quake, search efforts continue for survivors trapped under the rubble of a high-rise building under construction in Bangkok.

Rescue teams are using mechanical diggers and bulldozers to clear 100 tons of concrete debris in hopes of locating survivors.
