One Dead, Seven Injured as Vehicle Plunges Off Cliff

One person died while seven others were injured after a private vehicle carrying uniformed personnel and minors fell off a cliff in Purok Tuburan, Barangay Pandanon, Salvador Benedicto, on Thursday at around 3:00 PM.

Initial reports identified the victims as Police Corporal Patrick Q. Panganiban, 32, a resident of Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City; Police Corporal Jane Claire M. Batadhay, 29, a resident of Victorias City; Police Corporal Hazel Motin; Patrolman Calveen Corral; and two minors, all members of the Bacolod City Police Office.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Bacolod, Police Major Ryan Villasario, chief Don Salvador Municipal Police Station, the victims were traveling from Bacolod City to Salvador Benedicto aboard a Toyota Avanza when the accident occurred.

Upon reaching a curved section of the road, the vehicle overshot the turn and plunged off the cliff.

Emergency responders and police personnel immediately arrived at the scene to rescue the victims and conduct an investigation.

Of the eight passengers in the vehicle, one was confirmed dead, while seven others sustained injuries.
