Dentist and Teacher Shot Dead – Suspect at Large

A dentist and a teacher were fatally shot at a local eatery in Zone 6, Bangued, Abra, at around 5:38 PM on March 26, 2025.

The victims were identified as Dr. Francisco Beleno Beria, a dentist, and Odilon Peru Peria, a teacher at Abra High School and a resident of Zone 3 in the municipality. The suspect remains unidentified.

According to Bangued Municipal Police Station, Peria was rushed to Seares Memorial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival due to three gunshot wounds, one entering through his back and two exiting through his left chest, with another wound on his left hand.

Dr. Beria sustained a gunshot wound to the head, causing his instant death.

Prior to the shooting, Peria was seated near a fence with Charlon Guliban Blaquera, 38, a fellow teacher at Abra High School and a resident of Zone 6, Bangued, while Dr. Beria was sitting at a nearby table.

The suspect, wearing a helmet, approached Peria and shot him four times, also hitting Beria in the process.

The gunman immediately fled the scene, prompting authorities to launch a hot pursuit operation.
