According to P/Capt. Jesus Cambay, deputy chief of the Malay Municipal Police Station, some statements from one of the persons of interest in their executed extrajudicial confession matched findings from the medico-legal examination, particularly the cause of death—blunt force trauma to the head.

Authorities also confirmed that the victim suffered sexual abuse before her death.

The body of Mikaela Mickova was discovered in a state of decomposition inside an abandoned chapel in Sitio Pinaungon, Barangay Balabag.

Currently, three individuals are considered persons of interest in the case, with two of them already in police custody due to separate criminal charges.
