Comelec Officer and Husband Shot Dead in an Ambush

A Comelec officer and her husband were killed in an ambush in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, on the morning of March 26, 2025.

Authorities identified the victims of the attack, which occurred in Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat.

According to the investigation, Bai Maceda Lidasan Abo, an election officer of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the town, was riding a gray Toyota Fortuner with her husband, Jojo Abo, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them.

Jojo Abo was killed on the spot due to fatal gunshot wounds, while the Comelec officer was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

Police are conducting a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the ambush.

Authorities noted that this incident is part of a series of ambushes that have occurred in the area since yesterday.

As a result, security measures in the town have been tightened to prevent further violence.

Local officials and residents are calling for justice and immediate action to address the recent surge in killings in their community.
