The Social Security System (SSS) lauded the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) for five decades of providing essential support to Filipino workers affected by work-related contingencies.

SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph Montes De Claro praised ECC’s commitment to delivering meaningful and timely assistance to employees and their families facing work-related sickness, injury, or death.

He highlighted that ECC, established in 1975 through Presidential Decree No. 626, has played a crucial role in the country’s social security system, continuously improving policies to ensure workers receive adequate benefits.

Beyond financial aid, ECC has significantly contributed to workplace safety awareness, benefiting millions of Filipino employees.

Since its inception, the ECC has spearheaded the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP), offering tax-exempt income, medical coverage, and other benefits to private and government sector workers, including the self-employed.

SSS administers the State Insurance Fund (SIF) for private and informal economy workers, while the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) manages the fund for government employees.
